On 1st July, I had the absolute pleasure of attending a photography workshop at the Shropshire Confetti Fields, hosted by Shropshire Petals and the lovely Lisa Webb Photography, and let me tell you, it was every bit as magical as it sounds!
Set among rows and rows of vibrant petals in full bloom, the experience was like stepping into a real-life pastel daydream. This was my first time visiting the confetti fields, and I honestly left feeling completely inspired and creatively recharged. The colours were incredible, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and there were butterflies, bees, and ladybirds everywhere you looked, an absolute heaven for both photographers and flower lovers alike.

Confetti, Colour & Creativity
The workshop was naturally focused around confetti photography, since Shropshire Petals are the very people who grow and produce these beautiful dried petals. We had two gorgeous models, Rosie and Wendy, with Rosie wearing a stunning gown from Muse Bridal Shropshire, giving us the perfect bridal editorial feel.
There was time for both confetti action shots (yes, we all got to throw confetti...so fun!) and more refined bridal and couple-style portraits, which let us make the most of the setting. As photographers, we’re often on the sidelines capturing confetti moments for others, so getting to play with it ourselves was a real treat.
And let’s talk about the confetti itself, dried petals really don’t get enough credit! They flutter beautifully, are eco-friendly, and make such a gorgeous impact on camera. The biggest takeaway? More is more when it comes to confetti! Don’t hold back! It creates the most joyful, photogenic results.
But it’s not just about how pretty they look in the air or scattered across your aisle… These petals are grown with so much care, and during the process they actually support local wildlife, providing food and shelter for bees, butterflies, ladybirds and more. So not only are you choosing something visually beautiful and environmentally conscious for your big day, you’re also being part of something that’s genuinely sustainable. How incredible is that?
Honestly, it’s hard not to fall in love with the idea of something so blooming beautiful (pun absolutely intended!) 🌸

Behind the Blooms
A lovely part of the experience was getting a little tour of the fields afterwards, learning about how the confetti is grown and produced. I had no idea how much care, innovation, and technology goes into the process! Shropshire Petals even use the world’s first delphinium flower planting robot, how cool is that?! (You can read more about that from their blog post here).
The family-run nature of the farm, their dedication to sustainability, and their love for what they do really shone through. You can learn more about their process in this post, it’s genuinely fascinating!
A Soul-Soothing Creative Escape
This workshop felt like food for the soul, no pressure, just good vibes, beautiful light, and the chance to create purely for fun. It reminded me why I love photography outside of the hustle of client work, and I left feeling totally energised (and covered in petals!).

Would You Travel for a Shoot Like This?
It’s got me thinking… would anyone be up for mini sessions in the confetti fields next year? I’d love to know if that’s something people would travel for! I’m imagining some beautiful family or couple portraits here, could you imagine how gorgeous they’d look?!
Drop me a message or comment to let me know your thoughts? I think it could be something really special!
