Emily & Nathan | A Rainy Day Filled With Love, Laughter & The Brightest Shades of Pink!

Some wedding days are remembered for the weather.

Emily & Nathan's wedding? It will be remembered for the way they completely embraced it.

After more than a decade together, Emily and Nathan tied the knot surrounded by their closest family and friends in a day that was overflowing with laughter, happy tears, family moments, and the most beautiful shades of pink.

From Enquiry to "I Do"

Emily and Nathan first found me through Instagram and, thanks to the general chaos that life sometimes throws our way, our first proper meeting didn't actually happen until just three days before the wedding!

Whilst I wouldn't usually recommend leaving our first chat quite that late, it was actually lovely touching base so close to the big day. Everything was fresh in our minds, final plans were in place, and it gave us a chance to get excited together before the celebrations began.

A Calm Morning of Bridal Prep

I joined Emily during the final hour of bridal prep at her mum's house, where the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed.

With the last bridesmaid still getting ready when I arrived, everyone was calm and enjoying those final moments before the day officially began. Emily was surrounded by her mum, dad, brother, and bridesmaids, making for a lovely intimate start to the wedding.

One of the most special moments from the morning was the dress reveal with her dad. Those reactions never get old, and seeing proud parents take in that first glimpse of their child on their wedding day is always something I'll treasure witnessing.

A Beautiful Ceremony at Nuneaton Registry Office

The ceremony took place at the recently refurbished Nuneaton Registry Office, and what a gorgeous space it is. Bright, elegant, and filled with beautiful wall mouldings, it provided the perfect backdrop for Emily and Nathan's vows.

The ceremony itself was full of personality. There were plenty of giggles throughout, and their adorable two-year-old son Frankie was determined to make sure he remained part of the action too!

At one point, all Frankie wanted was his mum and dad, creating one of those beautifully authentic family moments that perfectly reflected what the day was really about.

Rain? What Rain?

Now let's talk about the weather...

It absolutely bucketed it down.

In fact, I got caught in a particularly heavy downpour while leaving bridal prep and arrived at the ceremony looking like a slightly soggy version of myself. Thankfully, Emily looked completely flawless, which is the important thing!

Despite the rain, Emily and Nathan never once let it dampen their spirits. Instead, they embraced it completely.

The registry office is surrounded by a lovely local park, and although we found ourselves sheltering under trees and making good use of my emergency umbrella collection, we still managed to create some beautiful portraits together.

My favourite location was a charming little bridge nearby, where Emily and Nathan fully leaned into the weather. The resulting photographs feel romantic, authentic, and perfectly representative of their day.

Sometimes the best wedding photographs aren't created despite the weather, they're created because of it.

Tears, Laughter & Throwback Anthems at Weston Lawns

Following the ceremony, everyone headed to Weston Lawns for the reception.

The speeches delivered everything you could possibly want from a wedding speech. There were tears from Dad, tears from the groom, and tears from a bridesmaid. You can always rely on the best man speech to get the giggles flowing again.

As the evening got underway, the dance floor quickly filled thanks to a playlist packed with late 2000s and early 2010s throwback classics. Needless to say, I fully approved of the soundtrack 😂

A Wedding That Felt Completely Like Them

Every part of their wedding reflected exactly who they are. From the way they included Frankie throughout the day, to the way they embraced the rain, to the laughter shared with family and friends, it never felt like a staged wedding day.

It felt real.

And those are always my favourite kinds of weddings to photograph.
